Kirkland pot shop incident caught on video, police seek suspect

Violence erupted at a Kirkland retail marijuana store when an intoxicated customer was asked the leave on Saturday night.

The man entered the store with a female and Higher Leaf security immediately noticed that the customer appeared to be impaired and asked him to leave.

“He refused and the Higher Leaf team swiftly took action,” said Higher Leaf spokesperson Erica Laxson.

The employees attempted to calm the customer down and encourage him to leave the store, Laxson continued.

But the situation quickly escalated and the customer grabbed a display case of glass pipes and threw them at an employee, causing damage and chaos.

“The team at Higher Leaf acted quickly and calmly, helping to get other customers out of the store and out of harm’s way and the Kirkland Police Department was called immediately,” Laxson said. “Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident and we are deeply grateful for the calm actions of the Higher Leaf team and the quick response by the Kirkland Police Department.”

The intoxicated man left the store prior to police arriving and is now being sought by the authorities.

Security cameras caught the incident as it happened.

The man is described as a black male in his late 20s to early 30s. He was wearing a Seattle Mariners’ shirt, green jacket and blue jeans.
