Northwest University women win fifth straight to end regular season

The Northwest University women’s basketball team ended its regular season with a 63-44 Cascade Conference victory against Warner Pacific on Saturday to extend its winning streak to five games and clinch the No. 6 seed going into this week’s post season play.

Northwest U (15-15, 10-10 CCC) was led for the second-consecutive night by Miranda Langenhorst with her tenth double-double of the season – 16 points and 11 rebounds, while shooting 80 percent from the field.

Charmaine Bradford scored 12 points and handed out six assists while Mariah Stacona contributed 11 points. Hannah Carlson scored 10 points and had a team high eight assists for the night. NU held a 49-31 margin in rebounding, which included 21 offensive rebounds and the Eagles dished out a total of 20 assists as a team.

For Warner Pacific (4-26, 2-18 CCC), Bailey Allen led the way with 14 points and nine rebounds. Bardi Pink and Kyeli Hendryx both scored 12 points for the Knights who shot 32 per cent for the game and were held to 18 percent from beyond the three-point line.

“It was a strong effort from the lady Eagles tonight,” said Ken Crawford, Eagle head coach. “We’re excited to end the season on a strong note as we head into the playoffs on Tuesday.”

With the No. 6 seed, Northwest U will play the No. 3 seed, Oregon Tech in the quarterfinals of the post-season tournament tomorrow in Klamath Falls, Ore.
