Lake Washington School District students will have to wait a few extra days for summer break, thanks to a handful of snow days earlier this winter.
The district closed once in mid-December and twice in early February due to snow and lingering icy conditions, including schools in Kirkland, Redmond and Sammamish.
Lake Washington School District announced scheduled make-up days at the end of the school year in a release on Thursday morning, moving the last day of school from June 21 to June 23. The district is also switching four early-release Wednesdays to full-day schedules.
June 21 and 22 will be full days. The last day of school, June 23, will be a half day.
In order to avoid moving the last day of school to the following week, March 22, April 12, May 3 and May 31 — previously early-release — will be full-day schedules.
With the exception of those four weeks, all other early-release Wednesdays are on as scheduled. A list of early-release times is available on the district website.
Should there be any additional cancellations due to inclement weather, according to the district release, the days will be made up in the week of June 26.
Commencement ceremonies for Eastlake, Lake Washington and Redmond high schools are still set for June 15, with Juanita and Emerson the following day.
