With the opening of the new platform at the eastbound SR-520 Evergreen Point Freeway Station, transit customers who ride buses equipped with wheelchair lifts are being advised that those coaches are required to make the accessible stop just beyond the regular stop at this location, where the platform height allows the lift to be deployed.

Buses with wheelchair ramps are able to serve the regular stop.

The same will also apply for the stops in both directions at the new Yarrow Point Station when it opens later this summer. The westbound stop at Evergreen Point is not affected.

People who require the lift and are waiting to board a bus at these stops should wait at the regular stop. If the bus has a lift, the driver will move forward to the temporary stop and wait there for the person to board. If the person is riding a bus with a lift and wants to exit at one of these stops, they should advise the driver.

The new platforms have a higher curb to reduce the slope of the wheelchair ramps on newer buses, but they cannot accommodate the older lifts. It is anticipated that the older buses will be replaced within a year.
