The Kamiakin Middle School band program is used to performing for the public. Every year, the 4th- through 8th-grade bands draw enthusiastic crowds to five evening concerts at the school and travel on more than 10 field trips to play for the public at various venues throughout the region. For the first time ever, Kamiakin will share the stage with a professional tap dance company during a concert at 7:30 p.m. on March 14 in the Kamiakin Middle School gymnasium. Doors open at 7 p.m. and there is a suggested donation of $2 per person.

The Alchemy Tap Project (ATP) is run by Josh Scribner, who has a long history of success as a tap dancer, choreographer, and judge for dance competitions throughout the country. Scribner and his Capitol Hill-based team will feature several of his own dances, including unique choreography involving metal chairs, drum sticks, improvisation, and unusual musical meters; all performed on ATP’s portable dance floor.

The concert will also feature the school’s Jazz Ensemble, Concert Band, Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble, which will be performing the music to Disney’s Beauty and the Beast to celebrate the movie’s remake opening in theaters the following day.
