EvergreenHealth will crack the glass on a gleaming new post-op wing on Monday, March 6, the first of several upcoming expansion projects at Kirkland’s largest employer.
The new Progressive Care Unit, on the fourth floor of the Silver tower known as 4 Silver, will have the ability to house an additional 31 patients recovering from complex procedures requiring an inpatient stay.
The EvergreenHealth tower, opened in 2007, is currently the tallest building in Kirkland and was designed with room to grow — lots of room. The second, third and fourth floors were built as shells as part of the facility’s master plan.
The hospital will begin moving new patients into the facility on March 6, phasing patients out of a neighboring building and freeing up space for regular beds.
The hospital is also finishing up work on a wing in the DeYoung Pavilion, which is located across the street from the main tower. The facility will combine the orthopedic and neurosurgery departments into one space.
The 4 Silver facility is open to hospital staff and VIPs on Friday, but no public open house has been set.
