The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.
Between Sept. 16 to Sept. 22, the Kirkland Police Department reported 465 traffic violations (eight DUIs, seven hit and runs, seven school zone citations), 26 alarm calls, 30 car accidents, 17 noise complaints, 12 thefts, six burglaries, six car prowls, 10 domestic violence calls, 10 calls for harassment, four acts of fraud, 14 calls of a disturbance and two animal-related calls. At least 39 people were arrested.
Sept. 29
Shoplifting: 6:30 p.m., 10020 N.E. 137th St. A 60-year-old Kirkland woman was arrested for shoplifting sliced turkey, ham and salami, pound cake, sea salt bread sticks, peanut butter and a bag of Snickers candy bars from Safeway.
Suspended License: 3:43 p.m. 11800 101st Place N.E. A 40-year-old Kirkland woman was arrested for driving with a suspended license after police contacted her as an unwanted person. Police told her several times not to drive, but she drove away. She was stopped and taken to jail.
Sept. 28
Disorderly Conduct: 1:38 a.m., 14417 124th Ave. N.E. A 34-year-old Tacoma man was arrested for disorderly conduct for fighting at Tony’s Bar and Grill. He was booked and released with a court date.
Sept. 27
Theft: 5:35 p.m., 8629 120th Ave. N.E. A 16-year-old Kirkland boy was booked, cited and released for third-degree theft after shoplifting two polo shirts from Costco.
DUI: 6:45 p.m., 1200 block of Sixth St. A 47-year-old Shoreline man hit a parked vehicle with his car and was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs. A blood draw was done at Evergreen Hospital for drug analysis.
Sept. 25
DUI: 1:40 a.m., 13200 100th Ave. N.E. Police contacted a 23-year-old Kirkland man after he crashed his vehicle. He failed field sobriety tests and was arrested.
Sept. 24
DUI: 1:54 a.m., 89 Kirkland Ave. A 38-year-old Kirkland woman was stopped on a traffic violation and her concerned husband reporting that she was driving drunk. Officers also contacted her earlier during a disturbance and she was intoxicated during both occasions. She was arrested for DUI and later provided a preliminary breath test of .168 and .154.
Warrant Misdemeanor: 5:20 a.m., 12900 block of N.E. 91st Lane. A 15-year-old Kirkland girl was arrested on her assault warrant.
DUI: 5 p.m., 9826 N.E. 132nd St. Police found a 48-year-old Kirkland man asleep in his car. Witnesses observed him driving his vehicle and then passing out in his car after he parked. He was found to be intoxicated and was arrested for DUI and driving with a suspended license.
Warrant Felony: 11 p.m., 610 Second Ave. West. A 39-year-old Seattle man was arrested on his felony deportation warrant.
