Kirkland acquires more property for Totem Lake Park

The Kirkland City Council unanimously approved the purchase of a $190,000 parcel of land owned by King County near the Cross Kirkland Corridor in Totem Lake.

“I’m so excited to see investments in Totem Lake being made a reality,” Kirkland Mayor Amy Walen said at the March 7 council meeting.

The purchase of the 1.18-acre parcel is part of the Totem Lake Master Plan, according to Deputy Parks Director Michael Cogle, and it is in the city’s Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) with the money coming from park levy funds.

The council also accepted the donation of a 1.25-acre parcel near the intersection of NE 132nd Street and 121st Avenue NE in the Kingsgate neighborhood from the Hazen Hills Homeowners Association to be named the Hazen Hills Park. The city will take ownership of the park in early April.
