Marina Park is a public park

I just read Flo Johnson’s letter in the Aug. 4 edition that stated that dogs should not be allowed at the Kirkland Wednesday Farmer’s Market with a reference to Olympia’s “no dog in the market” policy. We Kirkland residents really enjoy someone moving here and telling us that we need to conform to the policies and norms of the place from where that someone moved. I wonder why so many restaurants allow pets on their outside patios if there is such a health concern? God forbid my dog walk through my kitchen at home; my whole family could be at risk!

Perhaps Ms. Johnson’s next step should be explaining to the ducks and ravens they are also not allowed to be there on Wednesdays? A better option is to simply recognize that Marina Park is a public park.
