Kirkland Police are continuing to investigate two serious vehicular accidents involving Kirkland women.
A female cyclist was seriously injured when she was struck by a truck on Market Street on Aug. 17. Police continue to investigate all the issues that surround the collision.
The woman remains in stable condition at Harborview Hospital, according to the Kirkland Police Department.
The accident occurred at around 6:25 p.m., when the woman in her mid 20’s was riding her bicycle down a hill on Market Street and was struck by a Kirkland man in his 80s driving a truck as he made a left turn onto 20th Avenue. A sign facing north at the site of the crash warns drivers turning left to watch out for cyclists in the cycling lane. The driver of the truck reportedly told police he did not see the woman before striking her in the middle of the intersection. She received serious injuries to her left side and was transported to Harborview. The driver was cooperative with the police investigation, and there was no indication of alcohol or drugs. No defects were found in an inspection of the truck.
Thrown from a vehicle
