Lake Washington High School (LWHS) junior Samuel Dorsey won first place overall in the Accounting Application Series (individual role play) category at DECA National ICDC Conference last month.
The week-long competition for business and marketing students was held in Anaheim, Calif. and included 18,000 qualifying participants from around the world, gathered to compete in more than 50 different events.
Dorsey’s category had more than 200 competitors, and in the preliminary round, he was top ranked in both role plays and the written exam, earning him a place in the final competition round against 20 other students.
At the closing ceremony, Dorsey received a large plaque and a $1,000 award.
This was Dorsey’s first year participating in DECA.
