I would like to thank Catherine Krummey for the excellent job of writing the article on the Walk Across Washington, which was published in the March 24 issue. This article helped me connect with people and added credibility to my fundraising efforts.

To all the wonderful and generous people who donated, I thank each and every one of you. YOU are the real heroes of this event, because it’s your donations that will help the Virginia Mason Cancer Institute continue their cancer research and help people in need with their cancer illness.

I started earnestly thinking about doing this walk more than a year ago and started seriously training for the event in January 2017. Completing this walk and succeeding in the fundraising effort became my dominant goal. Crossing the finish line, knowing that my efforts had raised over $13,000 for the Virginia Mason Cancer Institute, was truly an uplifting and gratifying moment. The generosity of the donors far exceeded my fundraising expectations.
