The African American Student Advancement Program (ASAP) at Juanita High School (JHS) is holding an event tomorrow that will offer families the opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities.
The Move will be from 3-7 p.m. on the JHS football field, 10601 N.E. 132nd St. in Kirkland.
The event is free and will feature activities ranging from water balloon fights to flag football. Food and refreshments will also be available.
Julie Williams with ASAP said the club started about a year and a half ago. She said they stand up for equality and want people to understand that “it’s okay to be in the skin that you are in.”
“Your name, your skin color, your gender,” she said, “is what’s branded on your back and you should wear it proudly.”
