Kirkland announces David Wolbrecht as New Neighborhood Services Coordinator

David Wolbrecht has been tapped to become the City of Kirkland’s new Neighborhood Services Outreach Coordinator. He will serve as the liaison between Kirkland’s 13 Neighborhood Associations and the City.

Wolbrecht graduated from Pacific Lutheran University and worked for several years for the University of Washington. Before joining the City as Web and Multimedia Content Specialist in April, he worked for Wilderness Awareness School in Duvall, WA, providing nature-based mentoring and workshop leadership through youth and adult education programs.

For the past six months, Wolbrecht has had a large role in expanding communication outreach to Kirkland residents. His talent for clear communication, graphic design and social media management will benefit the neighborhood associations as they continue to serve Kirkland residents through neighborhood organization.

The Neighborhood Services Outreach Coordinator is a 20-hour per week position, so Wolbrecht will also work 20-hours in the communication program. This combination of jobs will benefit the neighborhood associations by providing them with more information about the wide variety of issues within the City in addition to collecting their feedback and advice to provide to City staff and Council.

“Communication is at the heart of community collaboration,” said City Manager Kurt Triplett in a press release. “Formally linking Communications and Neighborhood Services will allow us to better support the neighborhood associations while also ensuring they stay up to date.”

Wolbrecht replaces Doreen Booth, who served in the role since May of this year. He’ll be building off of the input that Booth gathered from the community. Booth’s unexpected departure is in support of an opportunity for her family in Chicago.

“I’m really excited to work closely with the neighborhood leadership and the dedicated residents who are involved in the City,” Wolbrecht said. “I look forward to serving the many projects already in place and helping to develop new ideas and tools for the neighborhoods to use.”
