On Jan. 19, Lake Washington High School will present “Kang Konfessions,” a production inspired by the online phenomenon, Post Secret.

The production is a student-written and student-directed play based on eight confessions submitted by LWHS students.

“‘Kang Konfessions’ allows students to step into roles they normally wouldn’t have the opportunity to at this age,” said director and theatre teacher Morgan Heetbrink in a press release. “These students have written funny and inspiring scripts. Seeing them direct and put together a whole show is exciting and rewarding.”

The show was created as part of Production Workshop, a class that teaches students all aspects of putting together a theatrical production.

“The show has forced me to face my fears and be more open towards new experiences,” Luiza Rocha, a student in the class, said in the release.

In the release, Meghan Amrhein added that “writing ‘Kang Konfessions’ has allowed (her) to put (herself) in another person’s shoes in order to broaden (her) outlook on life.”

Tickets can be purchased at the door with cash or check starting at 6 p.m. The show starts at 7 p.m. at the LWHS Performing Arts Center, 12033 N.E. 80th St. in Kirkland.
