Four-day water media workshop led by artist Mark E. Mehaffey now open for registration

The Northwest Watercolor Society’s 2018 International Open Exhibtion Workshop with Mark E. Mehaffey is now open for registration.

The four-day water media workshop begins Monday, Apr. 23 and ends Thursday, Apr. 26. The classes, which go from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., will be held in Kirkland’s Northlake Unitarian Universalist Church.

A workshop entitled “Experiment for Fun, Design for Success” starts with what is important to the participating artists.

“We build on that to make the strongest painting possible,” Mehaffey said in a press release. “Artists will create paintings using the elements of shape, line, value and color to simplify subject for both representational and abstract paintings.”

Mehaffey was also juror/instructor for the 2013 International Open Exhibition.

“He’s exciting to learn from,” NWSS president Che Lopez said in a press release. “We’re fortunate to have him with us again.”

Mark E. Mehaffey is also a dolphin fellow at the American Watercolor Society, signature member of the National Watercolor Society and an international award winner. He is also the juror for this year’s NWWS International Open Exhibition.

Exhibit dates are Apr. 16 to June 1, 2018 at Mercer View Gallery, 8236 SE 24th Street, Mercer Island, Washington.

Cost for NWWS members is $425, non-members $525.

An online form, as well as a mail-in form, is available at http://www.nwws.org/EventsWorkshops/Workshops.aspx.

Space is limited and nearly three-quarters full. Artists are encouraged to respond soon.
