Cindi Bright, a local leadership and diversity consultant, recently announced her campaign for 48th Legislative District representative, Pos. 2.

“I’m running for state representative because I have a strong belief in people, all people. I aim to accelerate progress for all people in our community,” Bright said in a press release.

Bright hosts the local radio show “HeartBeat” on Rainier Avenue Radio and has spoken on both King 5 and Q13 stations about necessary change needed for progress for all people, the release states.

“I have over 20 years of experience as a people champion, an advocate for under-represented people and change agent for Fortune 500 corporations to address challenges for them to become more inclusive,” she said in a press release. “I know how to make the changes that matter.”

According to the release, Bright currently serves on the board of directors for the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle, helping the organization provide access to the black community. Additionally, she leads a chapter of Propel Women, a nonprofit dedicated to uplifting women and helping them tap into their potential.

Formerly, Bright was a co-chair of Mentoring Works Washington’s board of directors and she served on the Atlantic Street Center board of directors, a nonprofit providing youth counseling services.

In 2012, as a single mom with a high school degree, she was accepted into the master’s program at Foster School of Business at the University of Washington, according to the release. Two years later, she graduated with her MBA on the same day her son Aaron graduated from Stanford University.
