EvergreenHealth’s Halvorson Cancer Center hosted a “Celebration of Life” open house event in honor of National Cancer Survivors Day on June 3. Approximately 200 community members, including cancer survivors and their loved ones, attended the event to participate in tours of the Center and visit with EvergreenHealth staff and local community members.
The event recognized EvergreenHealth’s fifth anniversary of the Halvorson Cancer Center, a partnership between EvergreenHealth and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance that offers patients access to the best providers, innovative treatments and clinical trials.
Guests also celebrated EvergreenHealth’s 40th year of cancer program accreditation by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer, which recognizes the program for consistently meeting several national benchmarks for providing high-quality care. In addition to comprehensive diagnostic and treatment, Halvorson Cancer Center offers a full array of supportive services like pain management, nutritional consultation and rehabilitation services—all in one location.
National Cancer Survivors Day is an annual celebration of life, held in hundreds of communities around the world on the first Sunday in June. It serves as a celebration for those who have survived, an inspiration for those recently diagnosed, a gathering of support for families and a resource for the community.
On National Cancer Survivors Day, thousands gather across the globe to honor cancer survivors and to show the world that life after a cancer diagnosis can be fruitful, rewarding and even inspiring. It is a day for everyone, whether you’re a cancer survivor, a family member, friend, or medical professional.
