Sunday, June 3
Burglary: Police investigated two burglaries that occurred overnight at local businesses on the 8000 block of 160th Ave. NE and 8100 block of 161st Ave. NE. One shop had the glass in the front door smashed and the other appeared to have had the door kicked in. Both businesses had been ransacked as the unknown suspect looked for items of value.
2:43 p.m. – Shoplift: Two people were arrested for shoplifting dozens of items from a local thrift store after an employee saw them leave the store without attempting to pay for any of the merchandise on the 15300 block of NE 24th St. Both suspects were released at the scene.
Saturday, June 2
2:59 p.m. – Physical Control: A 35-year-old female was arrested after being found asleep and showing signs of intoxication while behind the wheel of her vehicle on the 15900 block of Redmond Way. Officers also located an open bottle of vodka beneath the driver’s seat. The suspect was booked into jail on suspicion of Physical Control of a Vehicle While Intoxicated.
Friday, June 1
Multiple Thefts: Several bikes were stolen out of the bicycle cage at a local apartment complex on the 8300 block of 160th Ave. NE.
Thursday, May 30
9:34 a.m. – Theft: Officers investigated a community mailbox break-in that occurred sometime overnight at a local apartment complex 14800 block of Redmond Way. Numerous residents’ mailboxes were opened and had an unknown amount of mail taken. One of the residents told police she had been expecting a new credit card and already found fraudulent charges on her account.
3:05 p.m. – Shoplift: Redmond police arrested a Renton man for shoplifting from a local grocery store 17200 block of Redmond Way. A loss prevention employee stated he had seen the man select a deli meal and Mountain Dew from a case and leave the store without attempting to pay for the items. The employee followed him and invited him to come back in the store and wait for police. The suspect was cooperative and arrested for shoplifting.
Wednesday, May 29
9:48 a.m. – Burglary: A man had several electronics and other items stolen from his apartment while he was in the process of moving out and into a new residence on the 9300 block of Avondale Road. It appeared the unknown suspect had damaged the front door to enter the apartment. Police are continuing to investigate.
1:34 p.m. – Fraud: A male suspect made a $7 purchase at a local craft store with what turned out to be two counterfeit $5 bills on the 15700 block of Redmond Way. Shop employees told police they recognized the man from previous shoplifts as he was uniquely described as wearing an Australian outback hat, a fanny pack, and was “smelly.”
Tuesday, May 28
12:48 p.m. – Burglary/Auto Theft: Police were called after a son discovered his parents’ car was taken from their garage without their knowledge on the 7500 block of 144th Ave. NE. The son reported his parents were on vacation and the car had been there the day before. He stopped by to borrow it and found it was missing. The garage door was closed and there did not appear to be anything else amiss in the house or on the property.
2 p.m. – Prowls: Two vehicles were broken into while parked in an apartment building’s gated lot on the 16300 block of Cleveland St.. Various personal items were taken and no suspect has been identified.
