The Lake Washington girls tennis team got swept by Newport Tuesday, 7-0, during the season opener.

The most competitive match up of the meet came during the No. 3 singles match. Lake Washington’s Jess Lund narrowly lost 7-6, 6-1 to Tomomi Matsushita.

Lake Washington only managed one point during the four other singles matches.

During doubles action, the Kangs No. 1 team of Natasha Borgen and Jelena Alekson lost 7-5, 6-0.

Lake Washington’s next meet will be at 3:45 p.m. Thursday at Redmond High School.
