Student Ministries at Providence Classical Christian School in Kirkland, is inviting school families to join them for a second year in filling shoe boxes designed to bring Christmas joy to needy children around the world. Collection day for the event is Nov. 11.

In conjunction with Operation Christmas Child, a project of the Christian organization Samaritan’s Purse, Providence families may contribute small toys or everyday necessities in a shoebox to brighten the lives of children from some 150 countries served by Samaritan’s Purse. Small dolls and race cars, bouncy balls, yo-yos, toothbrushes, soap and other toiletries are just a few of the items needed for the shoebox collection.

Student Ministries encourages the families of students in grades K-12 to also add a hand-written note with the toys and non-perishable treats as a way of expressing love and encouragement to the boy or girl who receives the shoebox gift.

The organization has set a goal for the school ministry to collect at least 60 shoe boxes this year.
