Alisa Bright is this year’s Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) high school’s valedictorian.

Bright is one of many students who will graduate with their high school diplomas and associate’s degrees.

Bright came to LWTech from Everett Community College (EVCC) two years ago. She said she’s always dreamt of being an artist or a designer and that LWTech was the right place for her to pursue her passions.

“My grandpa was an artist and I’ve always had art as a part of my life,” she said. “I really liked the tech aspect and putting those two together.”

Bright said she has enjoyed her time at LWTech.

“It’s been such a great experience,” she said. “I’ve loved my teachers and have really fulfilled my learning.”

Through LWTech’s high school program and AA program, Bright was able to finish her high school requirements and earn a college degree.

“This [school] has helped me figure out what kind of design I want to do,” she said. “I thought I would go into more of the tech design but I’m going toward print graphic design.”

Bright was selected as valedictorian of her high school class because of her sustained grade point average of 3.9.

Bright has applied to the school’s bachelor’s design program.

“The programs here are amazing and it’s a great opportunity for high school and college students,” she said.

The LWTech high school program’s graduation ceremony was June 13 on the LWTech campus.

The school’s college commencement is set for 1 p.m. on June 15 at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue.
