Thanks to Sherman Peters (Reporter, Sept. 6) readers were fed glib history. In particular, six million is a decided upon number, not substantiated by fact.

Just read historian Timothy Snyder, who authored acclaimed works “Bloodlands: Europe Between Hitler and Stalin” and “Black Earth: The Holocaust as History and Warning.”

The referenced professor shares multi-faceted causes for WWII — and its many murders — that transcend glibness. He importantly corroborates Polish officials lowering the number of Jewish war deaths from inflated heights to around four million.

The vaunted lesson of the Holocaust is not the least altered by proper math — Palestinians remain Hitler’s last victims.

Realize too Poles suffered tremendously under Stalin with essential help from a displaced immigrant populace. Blowback took many turns.

All the rest by Peter Sherman amounted to tendentious distraction put into bliss-ignorance-death camp-vegan diet glib.
