The Assistance League of the Eastside (ALE) is hosting its 23rd Holiday Home Tour from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Dec. 6.

The event is a self-guided tour of four homes in Kirkland. The four featured homes include the Pacific Northwest Charm, French Country Cottage, Lake Front Dream House, and Remodeled Treasure. Each home will be completely decorated for the holidays and staffed with an ALE member to welcome in community members.

For the first time, the league is adding a pop-up holiday shop as well as other shopping events at local businesses in Kirkland. The pop-up shop will be located at the Kirkland Women’s Club, which will include Glassybaby, Kendra Scott Jewelry, Warr-King Wines from Woodinville, Scarlata Chocolate, local artist Terry MacDonald and ALE artisans. Windermere Kirkland is also holding Artists Outside The Box, an artist show featuring local Kirkland artists.

Tinku Basu, vice president of marketing for ALE, said each home will represent one of their four philanthropic programs. Each ticket purchased helps fund the organization’s philanthropic programs.

ALE, which is based in Redmond, is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization providing hope to families who have been touched by hardship or violence. Its philanthropic programs include Operation School Bell, Assault Survivor Kits, Starting Over Support and Help4Homeless.

Operation School Bell provides new school clothing to students in the Lake Washington, Bellevue, and Northshore school districts. The Starting Over Support program assists women and children fleeing domestic violence by providing basic household items in a laundry basket filled with new sheets, toiletries, towels, slippers and 80 necessary daily items to begin new lives in safe housing. Help4Homeless provides welcome baskets filled with essentials like sheets, towels, slippers, personal care items for families entering shelters. The Assault Survivor Kits program helps restore dignity for assault survivors in hospitals throughout Washington state by providing comfortable sweats, socks, underwear and other personal care items.

“Come out and enjoy the day knowing that every dollar that you spend goes to helping our philanthropic programs,” Basu said. “It’s really about locals helping locals.”
