The Mayor of Kirkland wrote a letter to our representatives in Olympia on Jan. 25. The letter became available for public viewing at the last agenda when staff was presented an update of the current session. It requested $6 million from the state, money that was needed to prepare for annexation and money that, it not reimbursed, will have to be paid for by the current citizens of Kirkland.
The letter also says the $6 million will not be near enough pointing out that new facilities and additional staff are needed but not funded.
The Kirkland City Council made a grave financial error when they approved annexation. Now they want the state to bail them out, a state full of taxpayers that will see their quality of life go down just because some politicians want citizens to serve them instead of they serving the citizens.
