Washington State Patrol (WSP) detectives are seeking information from witnesses to a June 16 road rage incident.
Around 10:30 a.m. on the 16th, WSP received a 9-1-1 call stating that the driver of another vehicle had shot at him on SB I-5.
The victim said he was driving his Ford F-150 with a canopy, while the other vehicle involved was a silver Toyota Prius with dark tinted windows.
The incident began when the victim was entering SB I-5 from Mercer Street and the suspect vehicle was traveling SB I-5 in the lane next to where the victim entered, WSP representatives said in a press release.
According to WSP, the suspect vehicle made it difficult for the victim to change lanes in order to avoid the HOV lane and move right to take the I-90 exit. The victim was able to change lanes in front of the Prius and continued to change lanes to the right to set himself up to take the exit to I-90.
At that point, however, the suspect vehicle pulled next to the victim on the left side with the passenger window down. The victim saw something in the driver’s hand. As they neared the exit to the I-90 split, the victim heard a loud bang, according to the press release
When the victim arrived at his destination on Mercer Island, he checked his truck and observed a bullet hole in the left rear quarter panel, WSP representatives said in a press release.
WSP detectives contacted the victim at his job site and took a statement and remain actively investigating this shooting.
Those with relevant information, specifically the plate and description of the Prius and its driver, are encouraged to contact Detective Vik Mauro at (425) 401-7746 or through email at Victoria.Mauro@wsp.wa.gov
