The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 800 per week.

Between March 3-9, the Kirkland Police Department reported 428 traffic violations (seven DUIs), 13 alarm calls, 15 car accidents, nine noise complaints, 11 thefts, five car prowls, seven domestic violence calls, seven acts of fraud, five calls of a disturbance, two assaults, seven reports of fraud, two calls for illegal substances and nine calls of harassment. At least 50 people were arrested.

March 9

Domestic: 10:08 p.m., 9900 block of N.E. 119th Court. A man and a woman were loud in a verbal argument. No crime occurred.

Illegal substance: 2:28 p.m., 12033 N.E. 80th Street. A Kirkland Police officer walked up to three boys, two ages 17 and one 16, just off the grounds of Lake Washington High School, while they were smoking marijuana. Police took a glass pipe from one of the boy’s mouth, along with the bag of marijuana. All three were arrested.

March 8

Trespass: 4 p.m., 505 Parkplace Center. A 24-year-old homeless man refused to leave the Kirkland Pub. He was highly intoxicated and threatened to kick the officer and take her taser. The man was arrested for trespass and booked.

Domestic: 10 p.m., 1500 Third Place. A petty argument between a mother and son was called into the Kirkland Police Department. The son did not do what the mother wanted him to do. No crime occurred.

Theft: 12:30 p.m., 12033 N.E. 80th Street. A Lake Washington High School student was arrested for stealing $21 from another student’s wallet.

March 6

Theft: 3 p.m., 12221 120th Ave. N.E. Fred Meyer loss prevention detained a 21-year-old woman for third degree theft. During the booking process the woman and a friend were found to have warrants out of Seattle for violating a protection order.

March 5

Minor, liquor violation: 4:20 p.m., 312 Central Way. Officers responded to a report of a male punching a female at the Wendy’s in downtown Kirkland. Two people were contacted as the parties involved and it was determined that no assault took place. The 16-year-old male was arrested, however, for possession of alcohol and intoxication.

Illegal substance: 10:57 a.m., 13000 block of 116th Way N.E. A traffic stop for not having a front license plate resulted in an arrest for possession of marijuana.

March 4

Domestic: 10:30 a.m., 6000 Lakeview Drive. A Kirkland woman came into the Kirkland Police Department to report that her husband had assaulted her earlier that morning. The woman said that she will not assist in the prosecution.

March 3

Warrant arrest: 1:57 a.m., 12700 N.E. 72nd Street. A 25-year-old Kirkland man did not notify his mother that he was coming home to visit and was called in as a prowler. Upon arrival KPD officers contacted the man coming out of a shed where he was smoking marijuana. He was detained and although it was soon determined he was family and allowed to be there, he was arrested on his combined $20,000 worth of sheriff’s office warrants.
