Studio East is honored to share I Never Saw Another Butterfly as their Fall Mainstage production. Students ages 8-17 will perform live in-person at Studio East’s new home base in downtown Kirkland.

I Never Saw Another Butterfly tells the story of a very real place, the Terezin Concentration Camp during WW2. Over 15,000 Jewish children passed through, and less than 100 survived. This play tells the story of these resilient children, the art and poetry they created, and their courage and hope amidst a horrific reality.

During the rehearsal process, the cast members are taking time to study the Holocaust and share short presentations with fellow students. This gives students the context needed to create and perform such an emotional and important production.

I Never Saw Another Butterfly has a running time of 2 hours plus an intermission. All performances will be held at Studio East in Kirkland. Performances are October 8 at 7:30pm, October 9 at 2:30pm and 7:30pm, October 10 at 2:30pm, October 15 at 7:30pm, October 16 at 2:30pm and 7:30pm, and October 17 at 2:30pm.

Tickets are limited due to a smaller venue and to allow safe distancing. Masks will be required of audience members ages 5 and older.

StoryBook Theater, produced by Studio East, will also be performing on the new Studio East stage in October, as well as at Renton Carco Theatre. The professional cast and crew are thrilled to be back on stage performing The Boy Who Cried Wolf presented by Premera Blue Cross.

The 55-minute original musical features Shepherd-boy Sam and his tendency for fibbing. Longing for adventure, Sam decides to shake things up by yelling “Help – a wolf!” The villagers come running, only to discover that Sam has pulled the wool over their eyes. But what happens when a wolf really does appear? This musical is focused on telling the truth and is best for ages 3-10 and their families.

The Boy Who Cried Wolf presented by Premera Blue Cross will perform shows at:

• Renton Carco Theatre on October 16 at 11am and 1pm

• Studio East in Kirkland on October 24 at 11am, 1pm and 3pm

The October 24 shows at 11am and 1pm will be ASL interpreted. All tickets are $15 and are limited due to venue size and to allow safe distancing. Masks will be required of audience members ages 5 and older.
