Dear Editor
Thank you for printing the recent letter on how much the writer enjoyed the Kirkland Wednesday Market.
We have had an amazing 2008 season, which started by hiring a new market director, Jodi Bardinelli. Under her direction, we have had a lot of new changes including many new vendors, 3 p.m. Sprouts Story Time with local celebrities, 5 p.m. chef demos featuring local chefs and market produce, and new tables and chairs for gathering and eating.
We have had several new events this season and are very excited to announce The First Harvest Supper and Grape Stomp coming up from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
Our mission at the market is to provide an opportunity for the local Washington farmers and vendors to sell their goods, and foster strong community between businesses, citizens and neighborhoods in downtown Kirkland.
The vendors are giving back to the community by donating at the end of the market day to Hopelink’s local food bank. So far this year our vendors have donated approximately 127 cases of food including produce, berries and bread!
The KWM also has hosted the MaxMobile from the Seattle Humane Society twice now. Our market shoppers have adopted six dogs and cats.
We hope that more of your readers will come and join us soon. We are open from 2-7 p.m. on Wednesdays through Oct 15. See kirklandwednesdaymarket.org for more details.
