Between Feb. 18-24, the Kirkland Police Department reported 464 traffic violations (16 DUIs), 18 vehicle prowls, 16 thefts, 15 car accidents, 13 assaults (11 domestic violence), 13 alarm calls and 10 noise complaints. At least 44 people were arrested.
Feb. 18
Vandalism: 12:54 a.m., 52 Lakeshore Plaza. Drunk bar patrons allegedly tipped over a Honda CBR motorcycle, causing damage. No suspects were reported in the case.
Vehicle Prowl: 7 a.m., 8200 block of 126th Ave. N.E. An unidentified suspect allegedly smashed the windows of a BMW 325i and an Infiniti G35. A pair of Chanel sunglasses, an Ipod and a Zune music player were reportedly taken from inside the vehicles. Police report no further leads.
Domestic Violence: 1:30 p.m., 9400 block of 114th Ave. N.E. A 16-year-old juvenile male allegedly broke his step father’s nose. The man reportedly suggested the juvenile, sick with flu, not attend wrestling practice. Police arrested the assailant and booked him into juvenile detention.
Feb. 19
DUI: 1:28 a.m., 8500 block of Northbound Interstate 405. Police pulled over a tan 1999 Buick Century on suspicion of driving under the influence. Everett resident Steven Neville, 50, was later arrested and his vehicle was impounded.
Missing: 10:06 a.m., 11800 block of N.E. 80th Street. Police were contacted regarding a missing juvenile at this location. State child protective services were notified.
Indecent Exposure: 12:43 p.m., 11400 block of N.E. 80th Street. Two female juveniles wearing t-shirts, jeans and with shoulder-length brown hair allegedly “mooned” southbound Interstate 405 traffic from a pedestrian bridge. Police were unable to locate them.
Feb. 20
Reckless Driving: 2:27 p.m., 7000 block of Northbound Interstate 405. A female driver alleged a man driving a dark gray Audi tailgated and then cut her off, nearly causing an accident. The suspect, who reportedly made rude hand gestures at the woman, exited NE 70th Street and continued westbound on Lake View Drive when she lost sight of him.
Disturbance: 4:30 p.m., 200 block of Third Street. A gathering of 12 juveniles associated with a red Honda and a gray Lexus was allegedly causing a disturbance in the Kirkland Square parking lot. Police warned the group of 16 and 17-year-olds to turn down their car stereos.
Feb. 21
Assault: 2:18 a.m., 11600 block of 124th Ave. N.E. Two men associated with a dark blue Toyota and a black Toyota Camry were allegedly involved in an assault at this location, according to a witness at the scene. Police later determined there was not enough evidence to pursue further investigation.
Feb. 22
Rape: 9:14 a.m., 9700 block of N.E. 119th Street. Police are investigating a rape that allegedly occured at this location.
Feb. 23
DUI: 3 a.m., 7500 block of 126th Ave. N.E. Responding to a report of a car alarm sounding, police discovered 27-year-old resident Ashkan Fahim behind the wheel of an idling 1995 Acura Integra parked in the middle of the street. A breathalyzer test indicated a .224 BAC level, despite Fahim’s claims that he only imbibed “two beers.” He was arrested for diving under the influence, cited and later released.
Suicide: 3:12 p.m., 12000 block of 113th Ave. N.E. Police and paramedics responded to a report of an attempted suicide at this location.
