The Eastside Business Alliance (EBA), a political action committee comprised of Eastside business leaders, announced local candidate endorsements for the Aug. 18 Primary Election.

For Kirkland City Council positions, the EBA endorsed challenger Penny Sweet for Pos. 3 and challenger Doreen Marchione for Pos. 7. Sweet is running against challenger Brad Larssen and Marchione against incumbent Tom Hodgson. The EBA also endorsed Rep. Ross Hunter for King County Executive and Sue Rahr for King County Sheriff.

During the months of June and July, the EBA invited candidates to participate in their evaluation process. 

“These interviews gave us an opportunity to both assess the candidates’ knowledge of the issues and to determine who best recognized the specific needs and challenges of the Eastside business community,” said Jim Hill, Chair of the Board of Trustees. “A healthy business climate is vital to the quality of life in all thriving communities. It’s is important that our cities, King County, and the Port of Seattle focus on economic retention and economic development strategies that encourage business growth and job creation. These ideas will ultimately help strengthen our region’s economy as well as our existing companies. We believe the candidates that we have endorsed embrace these principles and deserve our strong support in this important election.”
