Eastern Oregon’s Payton Parrish poured in 28 points while shooting 64 percent as the Mountaineers defeated Kirkland-based Northwest University, 79-64, on Wednesday in Oregon.
Parrish scored 18 points during the first half as the hot shooting (57 percent) Mounties took a 47-38 lead into halftime. NU shot a respectable 42 percent, hitting 13 of 31 shots from the field, but manage to hit only two of eight attempts from the three-point line while EOU scored on 10 of 19 shots from beyond the arc.
Miranda Langenhorst led all Northwest U (6-9, 2-4 CCC) scorers with 13 points and added 11 rebounds for a double-double. Hannah Carlson hit five-of-nine shots for 11 points while teammates Mariah Stacona and Jordan Asher each dropped in nine points for the Eagles. NU finished the night shooting 37 percent, but managed only 21 percent from the three-point line with four-for-19 shooting.
Eastern Oregon (8-6, 4-1 CCC) was led by Parrish and Madeline Laan added 18 points. Maloree Moss and Nikki Osborne each scored 10 points for the Mountaineers with Moss also grabbing 10 rebounds. EOU held a 41-34 margin in the rebounding column.
The Eagles move on to Caldwell for a 4:30 p.m. meeting with the College of Idaho today.
