Kamiakin Junior High artists are displaying their artwork alongside professional, award-winning artists Raymond Chow, Richard Duvall and Jalal Gilani during A Celebration of Art event.

The free event begins April 13 and runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 14 at The Carlton Inn at Totem Lake, 12233 N.E. Totem Lake Way, Kirkland.

The event will include the art show and a variety of artists’ booths.

Kamiakin artists are showing work from several classes: 7th grade Impressionist Paintings and Pen Dragons, and 3-D Polyhedrons; World Art class is presenting Greek Urns created with a scratchboard technique, and sculpture students are exhibiting a Japanese Folk Art named Kubi Ningyo. The problem-solving project depicts the face while learning the elements of art and principles of design is on display.

Another display features a 30-minute, white paper sculpting project. The paper reflects the light in a unique way and was done by most as a one-day class project.

Raymond Chow is an internationally-renowned artist based in Vancouver, Canada. He first became known in 1960 for his drawings of old Victorian homes and buildings. His paintings and drawings now decorate homes of prominent personalities, collectors and gallery owners. He also composes music and collaborates with other musical artists.

Photographer, writer, musician, Richard Duval travels the Northwest capturing its unique blend of scenic and landscape images. His photographs can be found on note cards, galleries, and bookstores as well as in various art fairs and shows. He lives near Mill Creek.

Jalal Gilani is an electronic engineer, entrepreneur by profession and an artist by nature. He states, “I realized that there is a special surprise for me, each time I move my hands and spread colors on canvas or draw simple gray lines. Each stroke brings beauty, happiness and blessings in my life.” He is a Northwest artist.
