In early March, shoring installation will begin at the Kirkland Pump Station at the corner of Third Street and Park Lane in downtown Kirkland.
This project will provide increased wastewater conveyance capacity to accommodate future growth in Kirkland. King County will continue operations of the existing pump station while constructing the new pump station around it.
Starting March 5 and lasting for approximately one week, crews will be installing micropiles. Once complete, the contractor will transition in the larger equipment needed for secant pile installation.
It is anticipated that the first secant pile will be drilled during the week of March 19. Neighbors should expect drilling, concrete pouring, and truck deliveries around the pump station and in the Park Lane staging area. It is anticipated that the secant piles will take approximately four weeks to complete.
Residents can also expect continued closures of Park Lane between Main Street and Third Street for construction staging.
The contractor will be working extended hours in order to expedite this work. Typical work hours will be Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Secant pile installation
Drilling rigs, cranes, concrete trucks and pumps, and other equipment will be brought to the site. Crews will be drilling a ring of 76 piles, extending more than 45 feet underground.
Throughout the pile installation, trucks will deliver concrete and other materials and remove dirt from the site. These piles will be part of the foundation for the new portion of the pump station.
