Tent City homeless encampment to return to Kirkland in April

The homeless encampment Tent City 4 will return to Kirkland’s Lake Washington United Methodist Church on April 24.

Tent City, which is currently set up at the Community Church of Issaquah, will stay in Kirkland through July 17.

Residents are invited to a neighborhood meeting to voice their concerns at 7 p.m. March 23 at the church, located at 7525 132nd Ave. N.E. in Kirkland. The church is located in the Rose Hill neighborhood near the Redmond border.

Tent City is a temporary encampment of up to 100 homeless persons who live in a group of tents on the property of a host for approximately 90 days. The camps have managers and a code of conduct for residents.

Lake Washington United Methodist Church hosted the camp in 2005. For more information, visit www.lwumc.com.
