The Juanita boys swim team lost a league meet on Thursday, Dec. 15 to Mercer Island. The Rebels fell 127-59.
In the 200 medley relay, the Rebels finish in third with the team of Kyle Grichel, Mark Stevens, Jake Helsel and Mikal Boyer in 1:53.02. In the 200 freestyle Alex Wyruchowski took fourth place with a KingCo qualifying time of 2:18.75. Teammate Eric Shinstrom was fifth in 2:18.99.
Caleb Flemming took third overall in the 200 individual medley race with a time of 2:38.77, while Boyer was fifth and Josh Flemming was sixth.
In the 50 freestyle sprint race, Stevens took fourth overall at 24.27, a district qualifying time, while Helsel was fifth and Josh Reyes was sixth. Both had KingCo qualifying times.
In the diving competition Josh Reyes was second overall with a score of 124.95, while Jacob Reyes was third with 120.00 points. Trevor Altizer took fourth with 110.30 points.
In the 100 butterfly race, Josh Flemming tied for first place with Mercer Island’s Andrew Weiss. Their time was 58.72, a district qualifying swim. Grichel was third and Joshua Warnick was fourth.
In the 100 freestyle race, Juanita’s Helsel took fourth place in 58.37, while Wyruchowski was fifth and Shinstrom was sixth.
In the marathon 500 freestyle swim, Ryan Walter was fourth overall in 6:15.42 to qualify for KingCo, while Eric Oldenburger was fifth and Fred Mortimore was sixth.
The 200 freestyle relay saw Juanita finish in third place with the team of Grichel, Helsel, Boyer and Stevens finished in 1:41.51. The 100 back stroke race was the Rebels first of two individual wins of the meet. Grichel took first place with a time of 1:00.84, qualifying for districts. Nick Jensen took fifth overall and Oldenburger was sixth.
The second win of the meet came during the 100 breast stroke race when Stevens took the top spot with a 1:10.88 time. Daniel Baba finished in third, while Caleb Flemming was fourth.
In the final event of the afternoon, the 400 freestyle, the Rebels took fourth place with the team of Shinstrom, Walter, Josh Flemming and Wyruchowski in 4:21.95.
