International Community School students selected to participate in All-State

Three students from the International Community School Music Ensemble and Choir were selected to participate in the WMEA 2011 All-State honor groups and the 2011 MENC All-Northwest Band.

Three students from the International Community School Music Ensemble and Choir were selected to participate in the WMEA 2011 All-State honor groups and the 2011 MENC All-Northwest Band. Outstanding musicians across Washington State were selected through competitive auditions to participate in this event.

The ICS students selected for this honor are: Nalini Krishnan, soprano, 2011 All-State Choir; Allison Blair, violin, 2011 All-State Orchestra; and Dorris Hwang, violin, 2011 All-Northwest Orchestra.

Nalini and Allison will join outstanding student musicians from across the state as the WMEA All-State high school bands, orchestras and choirs meet in Bellevue Feb. 17-20. The finest high school musicians in the state will rehearse and perform in con­cert under the direction of world-renowned conductors. These WMEA All-State musicians were selected through auditions to participate in this outstanding gala event, which is sponsored by the Washington Music Educators Association.

Dorris will join nearly 1,000 outstanding music students from the six Northwest states to participate in our biennial MENC All-Northwest Band, Orchestra, Treble Choir, Mixed Choir, Jazz Band and/or Jazz Choir.

The MENC All-Northwest band, orchestra, choirs and jazz groups will convene Feb. 16-20 in Bellevue. The finest high school musicians in each of these musi­cal genres will rehearse under the direction of world-renowned conductors and present their final concerts in Seattle’s Benaroya Hall. These MENC All-Northwest musicians were selected through auditions to participate in this outstanding event, which is sponsored by the Northwest Division of MENC: The National Association for Music Education.
