Graduates of the Evergreen Hospital Medical Center Neonatal Intensive Care Unit are invited to the 15th Annual NICU Reunion Picnic from noon to 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 21, in the Galleria Courtyard at the hospital, 12040 N.E. 12th St., Kirkland. Activities for the children include a bouncy house, bubble machine, fishing booth, sidewalk chalk drawing and a visit from the Fire Department.
The annual event reunites mothers, fathers, siblings and children who spent time in the hospital’s NICU. Nurses and physicians who work in the department usually drop in at the gathering. The event is so popular more than 200 people have already registered for this year’s reunion.
“This is a time for families to show off to our staff and to one another how much their babies have grown and how well they’re doing,” said Joan Beade, a manager in Women’s and Children’s Services at Evergreen. “Because the NICU is small, families bond with one another and with our staff. This is a fun event for everyone.”
Cupcakes, juice, water and coffee will be provided by the hospital. Families are asked to bring their own picnic lunch and picnic blankets. There is no charge to attend. Parking is free. Call 425-899-6601 to RSVP or e-mail ehmcnicureunion@evergreenhealthcare.org.
