James Russell of Juanita finished in fifth place at the 3A state championship tennis tournament, held at the Vancouver Tennis Complex.

Russell won his first two matches, before falling to eventual runner-up David Schuster of North Thurston 6-4, 7-6(4) in the semi-finals.

Alex Wallace of Union beat Russell 2-6, 7-5, 7-5 in the third/fifth place match.
