The City of Kirkland is looking at options for a bond and levy to support city parks and recreation services.

Some of the options include acquiring new properties for parks and green space (particularly for underserved areas, such as the eastern side of Finn Hill), developing recreational facilities (including an indoor gym), and acquiring the Eastide rail right-or-way that runs through Kirkland.

The city has scheduled two open houses so that Kirkland residents can learn more:

• Monday, Oct. 24 at the North Kirkland Community Center, 12421 103rd Ave. N.E.;

• Tuesday, Oct. 25 at the Peter Kirk Community Center, 352 Kirkland Ave.

Residents can drop by either open house anytime between 5:30-7:30 p.m.

The Parks and Community Services Department is also encouraging residents to take a brief online survey.

You can learn more, and take the survey on their Web site. (Note: scroll down to the bottom of the page to locate the survey link.)
