Kirkland resident and Eagle Scout Maxwell Schrempp, a member of BSA Troop 572, recently completed all 130 merit badges the organization currently offers.

This achievement puts him in a select group of less than 200 Boy Scouts. He is also the first scout from King County to accomplish this and the 13th from Washington state.

He said it was through the strong support of his family, friends, and Boy Scout troop that he was able to achieve this goal.

Max, 18, has been in Scouting since he was a Cub Scout with Pack 567 in 2nd grade. He earned his Eagle Scout in 2009.

Now, why earn all of the merit badges? As a soon-to-be college student, Max saw that each one represented a different career path, be it nuclear science, business, radio, or even textile. Now he has a taste for what 130 different careers could be like.

He still isn’t entirely sure what he wants to do, but at the moment, Max is leaning toward medicine.
