The Juanita and Lake Washington cross country teams faced off for the first time this season, meeting at Marymoor Park on Wednesday. The two teams joined in the race against Bellevue, Interlake and Sammamish at the park.
As a team in the boys race Lake Washington finished fourth with 103 points, while Juanita was fifth with 114. On the girls side, Juanita took third with 64 points and Lake Washington was fifth with 97.
In the men’s race the top finisher between the two Kirkland teams was Devon Grove from Lake Washington, who finished in sixth place with a time of 16:20. Juanita’s Santos Zaid finished in 13th at 17:08, just ahead of teammate James Bauman who took 14th overall with a time of 17:09.
Kenny Drabble was 28th for the Kangs at 18:13, while Joe Castro was 29th at 18:14. Kang runner Kurt Lamon took 31st with an 18:18 time, while Juanita’s Andrew Burt was 37th at 18:32 and Erik Oldenburger was 45th overall at 18:52.
In the girls race, Juanita’s Alexis Manns finished sixth overall with a time of 20:19. Teammate Molly Grager was close behind in seventh place at 20:27, as was Emily Peterson who finished ninth overall at 20:42. Lacy Coan finished first for Lake Washington with a 12th place overall finish at 20:57, while Juanita’s Rachel Blanch was 17th at 21:39. Kang Olivia Whidby took 18th place with a time of 21:41, while 21st place went to Mackenzie Toher with a time of 21:53. Riley Toher was 25th overall at 22:12 and Anneke Kniestedt tools 27th place with a 22:31 race time.
