POLICE BLOTTER
Between Wednesday, Dec. 31 and Tuesday, Jan. 6, the Kirkland Police Department reported 321 traffic violations (10 DUIs), 24 alarm calls, 17 car accidents, 15 assaults (six domestic violence), 15 thefts and 14 vehicle prowls. At least 38 people were arrested.
Dec. 31
Missing person: 11:55 a.m., 12700 block of Northeast 124th St. A store owner called police after he recognized one of his customers was a person police were interested in speaking to. The King County Sheriff’s Office currently lists the individual as a missing person. He was gone once police arrived.
Vandalism: 3:13 p.m., 11400 block of 124th Ave. N.E. A resident reported a motor home parked next to his property for several weeks finally moved and ran over his mailbox. The resident claimed the mailbox had value but would not give an amount.
Runaway: 4 p.m., 13000 block of 105th Pl. N.E. A worried 38-year-old local mother said her 17-year-old daughter ran away from home. Police are investigating.
Theft: 7:20 p.m., 12200 block of 120th Ave. N.E. A 26-year-old resident was arrested after he was caught shoplifting several items of food and clothes from Fred Meyer’s. He was booked, cited and released without further incident.
Punched: 8:20 p.m., 1000 block of Kirkland Avenue. A 34-year-old resident with a history of noise-related complaints allegedly punched his neighbor in the face several times. The victim was attempting to retrieve his mail when he was assaulted. The assailant drove away, but police later arrested him. Charges are pending an investigation.
Jan. 1
Disturbance: 4:23 a.m., 11200 block of N.E. 128th Street. Residents complained a neighboring “club house” was playing loud music into the early morning hours of New Year’s Day.
Missing person: 3:30 p.m., 10600 block of N.E. 46th Street. A 44-year-old mother reported her daughter ran away from home after she refused to admit a male friend inside. She suspected the 16-year-old was still with the male friend, who is reportedly homeless. Police listed her as missing.
Jan. 2
Traffic: 11:06 a.m., 11900 block of 100th Ave. N.E. Driving an unregistered vehicle with expired tabs, a 30-year-old female resident was arrested after police located drug paraphernalia inside her 1996 Ford Explorer.
Vandalism: 1 p.m., Kirkland Jail. A 25-year-old Lynwood man, scheduled to be released for previous violations, was re-arrested after he had “made a mess” there.
Jan. 4
Threats: 10 a.m., 12000 block of N.E. 128th Street. A resident’s daughter allegedly called hospice staff and told them she would enter the premises and “stir things up.” Security staff at the facility are aware of the situation and will contact the police if further help is needed.
