Merrill Gardens at Kirkland will honor the week of Veterans Day by hosting a resident talent show and benefit dinner in support of Puget Sound Honor Flight on Nov. 14.

The dinner is open to the general public for a minimum $10 donation. All proceeds will be donated to Puget Sound Honor Flight.

Since 2005, Honor Flight’s mission has been to “transport America’s veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit those memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices.”

Honor Flight’s current priority is to provide “one last mission” for those aging World War II veterans who wish to visit the memorials built to honor their service and sacrifice. It is currently estimated that approximately 1,000 World War II veterans die each day.

The fundraiser will run from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 at Merrill Gardens at Kirkland, 201 Kirkland Ave., Kirkland.

The talent show will feature performances by some talented senior residents at Merrill Gardens. The event will also feature door prizes and a no-host bar. All food and labor will be donated by Merrill Gardens.

Also on display will be a handmade memorial quilt, created by residents of Merrill Gardens in honor of veterans.
