The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter police blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.
Between Aug. 16-22, the Kirkland Police Department reported 409 traffic violations (six DUIs), 15 traffic accidents, 12 animal calls, 41 alarm calls, 28 noise complaints, 14 calls of disturbance, 15 thefts, 15 car prowls, five car thefts, 18 calls of civil disturbance, five reported burglaries, six domestic violence calls, four calls for harassment, four reports of illegal drugs, eight acts of fraud, three malicious mischief reports, six juvenile crimes and four suicides. At least 26 people were arrested.
Aug. 21
Warrant: 7:06 a.m., 100 block of Fifth Ave. A 53-year-old man was arrested on a Kent warrant and a Kirkland warrant for failure to transfer a car title.
Aug. 20
Liquor violation: 12:46 a.m., 9500 block of 130th Ave. NE. A 14-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy were arrested for being intoxicated at the Mark Twain Elementary school field.
Theft: 1:26 p.m., 12400 block of NE 70th St. A 26-year-old woman was charged with third-degree theft after she took a cab from QCC Casino in Marysville to Northeast 70th Street in Kirkland. The cab fare was $106.
Aug. 18
Trespass: 8:20 p.m., 12000 block of NE 128th St. A 60-year-old woman was arrested after she refused to leave EvergreenHealth Medical Center.
DUI: 1:35 a.m., 10000 block of NE 120th Lane. A 27-year-old man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after he did poorly on a sobriety test. His blood alcohol content later showed a 0.173.
Assault: 1:30 a.m., 12100 block of 129th Lane NE. A 26-year-old man was taken into custody after he assaulted his 25-year-old girlfriend of nine months.
Warrant: 2:38 a.m., 5800 block of Lake Washington Boulevard NE. A 35-year-old man was arrested in a park for his outstanding Everett shoplifting warrant.
Aug. 16
Domestic violence: 3:47 p.m., 7800 block of 124th Ave. NE. A 22-year-old woman was arrested for assault after she threw a bottle at her injured 43-year-old stepfather.
Disorderly conduct: 3:52 p.m., 100 block of Central Way. A 20-year-old man with no shirt on was taken into custody after he was seen yelling and waving a knife in downtown Kirkland. Police located the man trying to enter a business and detained him for being in possession of a small knife. He was cited for unlawful carrying and handling of weapons in addition to disorderly conduct.
