The Lake Washington cross country teams competed in the first KingCo race of the season, traveling to Luther Burbank Park to race against Mercer Island and Interlake.
The Kangs took third place in both the boys and girls races, with the girls finishing with 82 points and the boys with 68 points.
In the boys race, Devon Grove finished in second place with a time of 17:06, just behind Interlake’s Sam Giner, who won with a time of 16:47. Joe Castro was 14th for the Kangs at 18:56, Aran Kagen finished in 18:58 for 15th place, whiel Natahn Maris was 21st in 19:23. Zach Oelsner finished 33rd overall at 20:12, Holt Maki was 38th, Michael Smith was 44th and Mathew Dahl was 59th for the team.
In the girls race, Lauren Gwinn was the first Kang to cross the finish line in 14th place with a time of 22:07. Lacy Coan was 17th with a time of 22:13, while Mackenzie Toher came in 18th overall with a time of 22:22. Her teammate Anneke Kniestedt was 21st at 23:33, while Riley Toher was 22nd at 23:36. Janteane Blyton took 34th with a time of 25:08 and Zoe Spati finished at 38th with a time of 25:55.
