The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,200 per week.Between May 27 through June 2, the Kirkland Police Department reported 578 traffic violations (six DUIs), 22 alarm calls, 20 car accidents, 24 noise complaints, six thefts, 11 car prowls, six domestic violence calls, six calls for harassment, five acts of fraud, 15 calls of a disturbance, eight calls for malicious mischief and five calls of civil disturbance. At least 22 people were arrested.
June 2
Domestic: 7:40 p.m., 6500 block of 114th Ave. N.E. A 51-year-old Kirkland women reported that she and her husband were having an argument when he allegedly threatened to punch her in the face and knock her teeth out. The woman picked up a baseball bat to protect herself. Her husband took the bat out of her hands and threatened to hit her with it. The man then left the house and was arrested in Seattle for domestic violence harassment.
Theft: 6:45 p.m., 10000 block of N.E. 137th Street. A 22-year-old Woodinville man was arrested for shoplifting $4.89 worth of merchandise.
June 1
Property found: 9:31 a.m., 12800 block of 84th Ave. N.E. The principal of Carl Sandburg Elementary reported that a parent dropped off a small knife that was found on the sidewalk of the school. The knife was turned into found property for destruction.
May 30
Illegal substance: 10:46 p.m., 12800 N.E. 124th Street. An officer contacted a 23-year-old Kirkland man for riding his bicycle without a light. During a pat down for weapons the man informed police that he had marijuana and a pipe in his pocket.
May 29
Minor, liquor violation: 2:25 a.m., 25 Lakeshore Plaza. A 16-year-old male was contacted by police while vomiting. The teen submitted a blood alcohol level of .142. The two other 16-year-old males were contacted and all said that they were attending a foam party at Club K Town. All were arrested and released to their parents.Car prowl: 5:20 a.m., 500 block of 11th Place. Two 16-year-old Kirkland boys were arrested for car prowl and mail theft.
May 28
Sex offense, other: 6:55 a.m., 12400 block of 116th Ave. N.E. A barista at Java Licious called police to report that a man in a red Acura drove up to the business and she thought he was not wearing pants and only saw his white shirt and what she thought was underwear. The man asked her for directions to Evergreen Hospital. The barista asked the man if he was wearing pants and he said “yes I am.” The woman realized she had seen the man several years ago while working at another coffee stand. At that time the man came to the stand wearing a short miniskirt but never exposed himself. Police traced the license plate and attempted to contact the man at his home. There was no answer at the door but the car was in the driveway.
May 27
Assault: 1:25 a.m., 10200 block of N.E. 129th Lane. A Kirkland man told police that he heard a knock on his front door and when he answered the door an unknown man punched him twice, once in the face and once in the stomach, before running off. The man repeatedly told police that he had no ongoing feuds with anyone. But the man also told police that he had been receiving odd texts from an unknown person.
