Rebuilding a team takes more than just adding a few more wins to an overall record on a season. It requires a fundamental change to make it happen. This season the Juanita boys basketball team is working their way to making that rebuilding happen.
Two members of the record breaking Juanita High School football team were honored by the Associated Press this week, making the All-State football team.
The first game of the Lake Washington girls basketball team was against Holy Names, the second place team in the state last year. It didn’t exactly make for a slow start to the season, but head coach Cory Shepard said he thought the girls played well.
In high school sports part of being a senior is being the experienced, oldest group of a team. Typically it also makes a player eligible for being a captain. While that had always been the tradition for the Lady Rebels basketball team at Juanita, this year it changed.
The Juanita girls basketball team are enjoying their early success after starting the season with a 4-1 record.
One of the team’s first games was also it’s only loss so far this season, losing 60-52 to 4A Eastlake on Dec. 1.
In a match that used to be played for pride, but now is a conference game, the Lake Washington boys basketball team beat Juanita 71-61 last week. The Kangs, who have opened the season with a 4-1 record over came a fast paced second half to earn the win.
The Lake Washington Youth Soccer Association boys U17 Pirates team recently finished in second place at the state recreational cup in early December.
