The Lake Washington basketball programs earned a set of wins on Friday night, as the boys and girls varsity teams battled Interlake.
The Lake Washington girls basketball team played a close game against Shorecrest on Wednesday, Nov. 30 but couldn’t pull ahead for the win.
The Juanita boys and girls basketball teams both picked up non-conference wins earlier this week.
If the faces on the court for the Lady Rebels this year look familiar, it’s probably because they are. The Juanita girls basketball team returns this year after losing just one senior starter last year.

A Kirkland youth soccer team recently won the Washington District 2 U15 championship. Team Victory is comprised of ninth grade players from Kamiakin and Rose Hill junior highs, as well as ICS, Juanita High School Cambridge program and Cedar Park Christian. District 2 consists of teams from the Lake Washington, Eastside, Northshore and Snoqualmie Valley soccer associations.
In last week’s paper it listed that the Juanita girls and boys basketball teams would be playing their first home league game this Friday, Dec. 2 against Bellevue. The schedule has been changed, due to the fact the Bellevue football team will be playing in the state championship on Friday.
The Juanita Flyers soccer team won their division end of the year tournament in November.
The Lake Washington basketball teams celebrated the beginning of the winter sports season with the first annual Kang Madness event on Tuesday, Nov. 22.

Tom Leavitt, a Kirkland resident, recently hit a hole in one on No. 2 North at Avalon Golf Course on Oct. 30. Leavitt hit the shot from 150 yards out with a six iron.
