Firehouse Hot Yoga, offering a variety of yoga, recently celebrated its one-year anniversary, said business manager Craig Anderson.

Anderson’s daughter, Larissa, owner of the studio, is a senior yoga instructor who has been teaching full-time since 2000.

“I’ve always loved how a regular yoga practice heals and minimizes chronic stress or physical pain,” said Larissa Anderson. “While I enjoyed teaching at many studios throughout the country, I was anxious to open a studio in my hometown and forge a positive path for myself and the community.”

Firehouse Hot Yoga offers more than two dozen classes per week with a variety of styles. Heated power yoga classes run 60 minutes, while the traditional hot yoga classes run 90 minutes.

There’s also a $5 donation-based class on Wednesdays and Sundays to help make yoga more affordable for those with tighter budgets. Not keen on the heat, no worries, there is a “warm” version of hot yoga, as an intro to the all-levels series.

Jacki Ford, a newer student to Firehouse Hot Yoga, explains, “This is the friendliest yoga studio I’ve been to. I’ve tried out several studios over the last few years and have not found a good fit until I came here. I’ve been taking hot and power classes and love how I’m feeling after each class. Instructors do instruct and offer critics as well as physically helping you get into the pose in the best form for your body.”

Ford added that the studio is spacious and clean and noted how the Andersons have created an “inspiring place.”

While there are numerous yoga studios in the Kirkland area, Firehouse Hot Yoga prides itself on the quality of the space, the teaching staff and the student community. Not only is the interior cheery, so are the teachers and fellow practitioners. Everyone is warmly welcomed and treated like a friend.

Firehouse Hot Yoga has had more than 2,200 students cross its threshhold in just 10 months.

“It’s been a thrilling adventure and I can’t wait to meet the next 2,200 students,” Larissa Andereson said.

Firehouse Hot Yoga is located at 12089 124th Ave. NE in Kirkland at Totem Square Mall.
